On Friday the 16th Grade 5/6 got on a bus and travelled to Sovereign Hill. It was really fun!
When we got there, the first thing my group did was go to the Education Centre. We were a little late because the bus didn’t come till 9.30. When we were at the Education Centre we learnt that you can get so much information from just one picture. Afterwards we got a box and told the group about what was in the box. Before we left we got to choose to dress up, play games or use the ink pens. I chose to use the ink pens.
During lunch we went to the lolly store and got our lollies. It was a really hard choice but finally I settled on a huge lollipop for $5.50 and a bag of raspberry drops for $3.00. They are so DELICIOUS!
Our second lesson was going in the Red Hill Mine. We walked carefully through the mine and climbed a ladder. The mine showed a “fake” version of the 2nd biggest nugget in the world. It was scary and so fun!
Next we got to have a free explore around Sovereign Hill for one hour. We looked at the tents and theChineseVillage. On the way to the Bowling Saloon we had a look in the cottages. The cottages were really small. We finally got to the Bowling Saloon. We ran there. We got to have one bowl. It was pretty hard. You had to use two hands instead of one. I knocked over a few pins.
Lastly we had to go down to the gold panning. We had to shovel out tiny rocks, put them in a pan then mix them all around and hope for a speck of gold. Audrey found a speck. Unfortunately I didn’t find anything. It was still REALLY FUN!
Sadly we had to leave. We had such a fun day! On the bus Audrey and I really wanted to lick our lollipops, but we weren’t allowed. When we got to school I went straight home. I HAD SUCH A GOOD TIME AT SOVEREIGN HILL!
Neave and I panning for gold!
